On the IDIOT box.....

This thing will rot your brain.

Basketball ain't my favorite jam by any means. But its hard not get caught up in the phenomenon known as March Madness. For an entire month you gets to see underdogs like Northern Iowa drop the hammer of god on behemoths like Kansas or old stalwarts like Kentucky and Syracuse make their normal runs into the Final Four. There's no need to expand to field any further. If the NCAA decides it needs to haord more of your money, though the field shoule be expanded to 72 teams and not the RIDICULOUS 96 teams as suggested by some. Long story short, watching the NBA is awful but when the small schools get their shot at the monsters is always is fun to see the big guys fall.....Thank you Northern Iowa, St. Mary's and Cornell you've made it a hell of a lot of fun!!!!!

Hells yeah, the UND hockey team qualified for it's 8th straight national tournament. As well as winning the Broadmoor Cup last weekend in St. Paul. It's a Dave Hakstol trademark to get his team on run to end the season. Finishing the year at 25-12-5 was incredible feat. Yet, again Coach Hakstol and his staff now how to push the right buttons, at the right time to get the team back into college hockey limelight. The regional tournaments take place this weekend. The only shitty thing is that ESPNU gets the regional finals so basic cable subscribers get the shaft again. ESPN only gets in interested in some college sports when the tournaments roll around. Now I don't expect ESPN to go full blown on college hockey, but at least put ALL the games ESPN 2 not ESPNU or ESPN360.com. We get it, ESPN you want sports to ask you first.

Baseball gets into full swing and I can't wait to see Target Field in HD once the Twins open the park! The loss of Joe Nathan sucks but, if big John Rauch can hold it down in the 9th inning Twins fans may have little to worry about. Obviously the Yankees and RedSox get all the pre-season hype but, with the Twins opening a new stadium some (about 10%) of the focus is shifted off the east coast for now. Let's not forget the Mariners and A's getting better in the off season and the fact that the Texas Rangers were a sneeze away from the playoffs as well. This season is shapping up to be brilliant one. Let's not forget that the Phillies and Cards are the only clear cut favorites in the NL so things could be crazy come All Star and trade deadline!

NHL PLAYOFF TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Let's get one thing straight, I like the Blackhawks to get at least get to the Western Conference finals. Due to the lackluster efforts of the Minnesota Wild (ie: letting Gaborik go) I am with the Blackhawks!!! Johnny Toews, Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa yeah, that's  how you build a franchise! In the east well, Washington looks sharp however, President's Cup winners (best regular season finish) have not had a great track record in the playoffs. Pittsburgh and New Jersey are the real wild cards in this conference. Jacque LeMaire and Dan Bylsma know how to coach playoff hockey and that might be leg up needed to bring down the Capitals!
